Division of Mathematical Modeling

The Department of Mathematical Modeling conducts scientific research in the broadly understood theory of modeling of evolutionary processes occurring in the exact and natural sciences.  This includes an analysis of their stationary states and topics of process control and their optimization from the point of view of various quality criteria. Such problems are generally described by ordinary or partial differential equations, functional differential equations, integral equations, and difference equations (for discrete processes) under the presence of local or nonlocal boundary conditions. Research concerns fundamental problems in the field of functional analysis, operator theory, operator semigroup theory, calculus of variations and variational methods, theory of dynamical systems, fixed point theory and topology. In particular, the research covers questions about the existence, multiplicity, structure, asymptotic behaviour and stability of solutions, and other quality problems. The research also covers applications and quantitative issues. In particular, studies of modeling dynamic processes and systems in medicine (e.g., epidemiological and transmission models, drug therapy models) and in biology (e.g., the description of fragmentation, coagulation, population and ecological processes) are pursued in this department.

Differential equations in mathematical modelling
Chairmen: Katarzyna Szymańska-DębowskaBogdan Przeradzki

The seminar discusses the latest results obtained by the participants and invited guests regarding ordinary and partial differential equations, functional-differential equations and their applications in mathematical models of physical, chemical, biological, medical and economic phenomena. The seminar takes place at the Institute of Mathematics of the Lodz University of Technology, Campus B, Building B9, room 160, on Wednesdays at 10:30–12:00 (Warsaw time).

International Meetings on Differential Equations and Their Applications
Chairmen: Katarzyna Szymańska-DębowskaBogdan Przeradzki

The International Meetings on Differential Equations and Their Applications series is an international seminar where guests from Poland and abroad present their latest results on differential equations and their applications. Meetings are organized on Wednesdays via the Zoom and start at 10:15 or 18:00 (depending on the speaker's time zone).

Nonlinear Analysis
Chairmen: Marek Galewski, Wojciech Kryszewski

The latest results concerning the application of variational, monotone, and topological methods to study the existence and multiplicity of solutions of nonlinear boundary problems for ordinary and partial equations are discussed. The seminar takes place at the Institute of Mathematics of the Lodz University of Technology, Campus B, Building B9, room 52, on Tuesdays at 12:00–13:30 (Warsaw time).
